Information from Dan Hicks
Richard Hix/Hicks was in the War of 1812 and died in 1815 at the Battle of New Orleans (in Camp). Zilphia (Brake) Hicks (daughter of Jacob Brake) received a land pension in 1817 (50 acres by Ill Will Creek Kentucky). I have no birth or marriage dates or locations. Looks like Richard's family was around VA, NC, & Kentucky. Problem is there are similar names but dates that are just too scetchy far apart to make a good match. Mostly from N.C.

I need help. Archibald O. Hicks was born somewhere in Va in 1782, He married Ruth or Rutha Blanton born circa 1778. They left Virginia and settled at Short Mountain Tennessee. This is at various and asundry times in Cannon or DeKalb Co. depending on who reported it. They had 9 children of whom I am aware. they are Nash born 1802, Rebecca born 1804, Hooper born 1806, Hannah born 1808, Archibald Walter Overton Hicks born 1817(noted lawyer and jurist in Texas and died in Louisana after the Civil War in which he served), William born 1816, Ruth born 1819, Janie Rose born 1818 and Elizabeth or Betty born 1820. Elizabeth is my great great grandmother as she married Robert M. Jones, their daugher Hannah Josephine married Jacob Freeman, their son Fer Jones Freeman married Mary Rebekah Bryant, their daughter Reba married Freddie Oliver Littlejohn and I am their daughter Karen Marguerite Littlejohn and I married Peter Robert Gilmartin.
I do believe that the John Hicks who died from head injuries falling from a horse may have been Archibald O.'s brother. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Searching for information on this Thomas Hicks born in Virginia married to Mary Gwaltney in Isle of Wight Co., Va, about 1786. They had one child I know of for sure named Elias Hicks, born 1787. Where I do not know. He married 1st Lucretia Lassiter abt 1807, they had 11 children.He married 2nd Margaret P. Outland abt. 1835. They had 3 children. I have found Elias in Stewart Co., TN abt 1820. I have a list of his children and birth dates and some death dates and in some cases marriages. These lists were in my father-in-laws papers when he died, so I do not know where the list came from..I would like to place these individuals in a locality. Our direct line we are searching is through Andrew Jackson Hicks, the youngest child of Elias Hicks and Margaret P. Outland.

I am David Hicks and I am searching the Hicks line in Va. as well, I am stuck in 1793-95 with the birth of Elias Hicks in Russell County Va.
There is a lot of thought that his father was Nathaniel Hicks that was living in Russell County at that Time.
I grew in KY with the tale that the Hicks line started in or Around Jamestown, VA, there are tax records that show a Baptist Hicks there in 1607 and a Baptist and William Hicks there in 1611.
Can you shed in light of the connection to Elias Hicks.

The only HIX listed is Nancy HIX b.6 Nov 1743, Albermarle, Virginia. Died about 1800, Jackson, GA, married Samuel L. Haggard abt 1767, Surray, NC. he was born 1749/1750, Albermarle Co, Virginia, died 3 Jan 1811, Jackson, GA. There is nothing further about her family, other than their children, their son, James Haggard is I believe my line.

Virginia..... I just received some information that indicates that Richard Hicks in the 1850 census is the son of Richard W. Hicks, Sr. born 1787 in Virginia-- who married Elizabeth Blankinship May 1802 in Campbell County, Virginia... still would like to talk to people from this part of the family and see if I can trace back further than Richard W. Hicks, Sr.

My gg grandfather was Robert Lyle Hicks married to Annie Eliza Lile. He was born in Ohio in 1850 and died in 1933 in Salmon, Lemhi, Idaho. His parents were Jacob Hicks (b 1814 in Virginia) and Harriet Hall. Jacob's parents were John Isaac Hicks (b 1776 in Virginia) and Sarah Shores. Searching for any info on James Hix (born abt. 1785) in South Carolina,
died 1863 and Milly Adams (born abt. 1793) in Virginia, died between 1820
and 1830. A Harrison County Biography has her death year as 1815 but her
son Andrew Jackson (Jack) Hicks was born January 28, 1820. James and Milly
were married in Wayne County, Kentucky March 26, 1808 (John Adams consent
witnessed by Joseph Waldron). Any information would be greatly

Am looking for a William r Ramsey from Rockbridge County,Va. Born about 1855to 60. He married one Margaret Hicks, who was also born in Rockbridge. She would have been about 1860 to 65. Only know that this is where they are from and that they had my grandfather Jacob mathews Ramsey in 1890, other children to this union are William,Luther,Elmer,Sylvester.
